I finally got the 3D0 system and am very happy with the investment. I am however disappointed with the amount of sports titles. ( I see NHL 96 is on the way thankfully!)
In the June/July issue covering the E3 show, there doesn't appear to be many sports games coming. EA (Electronic Arts) sports has done a great job with Genesis games, and I was wondering if they had any plans for a baseball game and an updated John Madden
football game. I think the 3DO needs to have a strong base of sports titles to compete with the Sega Saturn and the others. Thanks guys!
Keep up the good work with the Magazine!
Sincerely,

Dear 3,
I am writing to tell you how very disappointed I am with your magazine "3" . And unless thing inprove, I for one will not be renewing my subscription. I'll give you two reasons for my
frustration. One is that "3" does not come to my home on a timely basis. I'm writing you on June 14, 1995, and I have not received the May/June issue of " 3 Magazine. And number 2, when I do receive the latest issue of "3" , most of the information contgained therein, is old news! Most of the information, I have already heard from other sources. You should seriously consider making your magazine monthly, even if it means putting out half as many pages.
sincerely,
Marvin E. Henderson

Dear 3,
The M2 upgrade article was very thorough in your last issue except for the most important point, the retail price of the M2 add-on. How much will 3DO users have to shell out for this one? The $400 hurdle was nearly too high for me and obviousloy this system hasn't exactly taken off like a rocket. Do you think it's because of the price? If it is any more than $250, then I will sell my 3DO and buy the Ultra 64. 3DO will be dead in '96 if it can't deliver high quality graphics at low market cost as Nintendo will do. Spare me the "Let's wait and see what Nintendo will do" line because Nintendo posesses too much wealth and innovation to fail to deliver. For the sake of the Company, make the M2 economical for the consumer.
Sincerely,
Jason Sebring

Dear 3,
I'm a fan of first-person military (contemporary) simulations. Are there any plans for 3DO versions of Tank Commander, Apache, Subs, and the like?
Also, is there anything is store for the 6-12 yr. old group? My kids had fun with Fatty Bear & Putt Putt.
Last but not least, I've been hoping for an encyclopedia on CD like PC's and even Sega has. Anything in the works?
sincerely,

Dear 3,
4 months agoI bought the Need for Speed. I love it. This is the game I've been waiting for (little did I know). I've played most of the racing games on other systems, and they don't even come close.
A month later after buying the game, my girlfriend and mother learned of my intense playing time with the game. (I was up to 10hrs. a day, worst of all I became a babbling rainman. Concerned for my safety they called the "REAL" hospital, and in a matter of minutes the ambulance had picked me up, in shock the paramedics started RVR ( reversal of virtual reality) therapy. 2 months have passed and now back in the "REAL" world... hold on, wait a minute, I think I took this story to far.
My real question is. Why don't the designers of 3DO games make a variety of driving/racing games like drag racing, or compete in a IMSA GT circuit? What's in the future for these types of games from 3DO?
sincerely,
Jason Trimble

wered all of my questions. Most magazines don't take the time to do what you guys did. I hope I'm not pushing it by asking a few more questions. Don't feel obligated to publish this letter, too. What's really important to me is that you try to answer my questions (at least some of them) even if the answers are contained in your articles. Believe me... if the answers are in your magazine, I'll find them...because I read every word!
A couple of weeks ago my dad said he wished there was a race car game that looked real, just like on T.V. Yeah, I know about Crash N Burn and Need for Speed. I'm talking about 20 race cars head to head , 10 tracks, create your own car, 5 different camera views, pit stops, 50 laps per race, do you see what I'm getting at? A Real Racing Game. If there is anyone you could recommend this to, that would be awesome.
Another big issue I've been dying to talk about. Thank you ever so much for your coverage on the M2 that I wished for. Speaking of the M2, I was reading a couple magazines in the stores when I noticed an article about an electronics show involving Trip Hawkins. Anyway, near the end of the article, it mentioned a big fancy controller that would not be available until M2's launch. Is this true? Also, do you know what the pack-in for the M2 is, because I heard Bladeforce might be it. But in the same article, it said that M2 would include a Killer Pack-in, in other words MK 3. I would just die if they actually considered packing in Mortal Kombat 3 with the M2.
I know that I've seen full coverage of the M2 which I appreciate more than you know. Just one tiny question.
will the M2 be better than CD ROM? And will it be capable of perfoming better to or equal to arcade graphics?
If I don't ask this one more question I would hate myself. Is there a baseball game in the works? Baseball is the next best thing to 3DO and 3 magazine to me. If so, I would love one with homerun derbies and an option to use old players like Babe Ruth. Once again, thank you very much for your time, answers and a heck a magazine.
sinccerely,

Dear 3,
At last there is a publication to address the needs of 3DO enthusiasts exclusively. Having tired of the biased "reporting" in other magazines (we know where their loyalties are) "3" is the premier magazines for 3DO has any plans to release any pure RPG's?
This being my favorite genre I certainly hope so. Well thanks for your time and I look forward to future issues.
sincerely,

Dear 3,
I think the magazine is great. It's nice to read about the 3DO that I like so much. But I do have one big complaint. I am a 32 year old guy who really wants to know about the simulators! I want to know where all the games like Silent Service, Gunship and F-19
stealth is. You know them old Microprose games I used to play on the Commodore 64 and love so much.
I already have about 12 games for the 3DO and I like them but I really got the 3DO for the simulators. I've been waiting for Flying Nightmares for a long time. It looks good but I have not seen anything on any submarine or tank simulators. Please let me know when or if there are going to be simulators that are coming to the 3DO.
sincerely,

Dear 3,
I've been a regularly reader of "3" since I first discovered it at Kentucky's Outstanding Bookstore, Joseph-Beth Booksellers, way back when issue number one was released. I've had a 3DO since last Christmas, and I also have an Atari Jaguar and a Sega Saturn (I plan on buying an Ultra Nintendo, 3DO M2 accelerator, and a Sony PS-X when they are released, and in my opinion, 3DO, though less powerful than the Saturn, blows away all of the consoles currently available on the market; and with the reduced price of the 3DO along with th eminint release of M2, I feel that the 3DO is ready to become the system of choice in the 32/64 bit gaming wars. However, I would like to make some observations and express some reservations that I have about 3DO.
Even though 3DO has been available for two years, sold more than 500,000 units, and has almost 200 games currently available, it has no truly original games and no big names other than Super Street Fighter 2X, and possibly Samurai Shodown that would make customers whom are going to be wowed by the marketing campaigns of Sony and Sega and of the big name games that are slated to be released for those machines. 3DO does not have a Tekken, Killer Instinct, or Mortal Kombat III on its horizon unless you count Primal Rage.
Another problem with 3DO is its lack of a game that is immediately recognizable as a 3DO game. Everyone has labeled GEX the mascot of the 3DO, but it's strange that 3DO's mascot is also going to be making its way on to the Sega Saturn and Sony-PSX. The same can be said of Road Rash and Slam N' Jam '95, two of the machines very best games which are being parted over to the other consoles. Trip Hawkins is trying to remedy this situation by forming Studio 3DO, but only time will tell if this venture will prove successful and if Captain Quasar can become the original icon game that the 3DO desperately needs. Bladeforce and Killing Time are both looking good right now though, and I can hardly wait for Doom 3DO and NHL Hockey '96 to be released.
On the other hand, the games that I have on the 3DO that are comparable to games that I have on Saturn are much better than the Saturn games currently available. GEX rocks all over the Saturn's premier platform game Clockwork Knight; and Road Rash destroys Daytona USA-the graphics in Road Rash and the gameplay are much crisper and better than those in Daytona. However, the 3DO could use a Polygon-based fighter C pack-in software for the M2?!
Also, Saturn does have and excellent track-based shooter called Pranzer Dragon that has absolutely stunning graphics. I really enjoy reading your magazine; keep up the good work.
sincerely,
Edward Hieromymus
